Robert Cattermole

Board Director / foundation vice president
robert@respitefoundation.org

Robert’s involvement with the Respite Foundation grew out of a simple, practical observation: the vacation homes his company manages sit empty for weeks at a time, even during peak seasons. Those unused stretches felt like a missed opportunity — not just financially, but socially. When his wife Wendy came up with the idea about Respite’s mission, the connection was immediate. Opening vacant homes to people who need a safe place to land wasn’t just feasible; it felt like the most natural extension of what he was already doing every day.

With more than two decades in property management, Robert understands the rhythms of occupancy, the logistics of home readiness, and the importance of creating spaces where people feel secure. That experience made him uniquely positioned to help the Respite Foundation scale its model. He saw how the foundation could bridge two worlds — hospitality and caregiver support — and he stepped in to help build that bridge.

Robert brings a calm, operational mindset to the board. He’s the person who can look at a complicated housing challenge and break it down into steps, systems, and solutions. His background gives him a practical lens: how to coordinate turnovers, how to maintain quality standards, how to ensure guests feel welcomed.

Outside of work, Robert is known for his steady leadership, his dry sense of humor, and his belief that small, consistent acts of generosity can change the trajectory of a community.
